A research done at Uppsala University Division of Applied Mechanics regarding using Agar-based biopolymers as a matrix for a Glass Fiber composite laminate.
Furthermore a certain set of macrostructures based on origami and kirigami were introduced into specimens and resulted
Tests conducted were Tensile, Compression and Impact tests of varying compositions of polymers used and different compounds added for the specific change of their properties.
A first promising result yielded a composite with matrix in the same tensile strength and resistance range as epoxy resin matrix with the same fiber.
